The Nepal Professional Boxing Commission (NPBC) is set to mark its first-ever participation in the World Boxing Council (WBC) conference, signaling a significant step for Nepalese boxing on the global stage.
Leading the delegation will be NPBC Chairman Rajan Bikram Prajapati, accompanied by national boxing referee Dipesh Sharma. The 63rd WBC conference is scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from November 30 to December 5.
Chairman Prajapati highlighted that the conference will include extensive discussions on crucial topics such as international boxing policies, updates to player safety standards, and the enhancement of training and health systems. Over 150 countries are expected to participate, providing a global platform for Nepal to engage with the international boxing community.
Expressing his enthusiasm, national referee Dipesh Sharma said, “This is a matter of pride for Nepal and for my home district, Nawalparasi. Attending the conference will give me renewed energy and motivation to support and inspire our players, especially as boxing gains more popularity in Nepal.”
The NPBC’s debut at the WBC conference underscores Nepal’s growing presence in international boxing and represents an opportunity to further elevate the sport within the country.
