The roar of motorcycles across Kathmandu’s busy streets mirrors the growing dynamism of Nepal’s automobile market. With demand surging and competition intensifying, motorcycle brands are in a fierce battle to secure their market positions.

According to recent import statistics for the first seven months of 2025 (January–July), a total of 100,256 motorcycles were imported into Nepal, reflecting a steady recovery in the two-wheeler segment.

Among the brands, Bajaj continues to dominate the market, accounting for 54.78% of total imports. The company imported 54,931 units during the period. Bajaj models such as Pulsar, Dominar, Avenger, and Discover remain popular choices among Nepali consumers. The brand is officially distributed by Hansraj Hulaschand & Company Pvt. Ltd.

Hero MotoCorp holds the second position with 12,545 units imported, representing 12.51% of total imports. Distributed by CG Motors Nepal, Hero’s lineup includes models like Xpulse, Splendor, Super Splendor, and Xtreme.

Yamaha ranks third, with 10,222 units imported, capturing 10.19% of the market. Distributed by MAW Rides, Yamaha’s top-selling models include FZ, R15, MT15, Saluto, XTZ, and WR.

In fourth place, TVS imported 8,500 units during the same period, with popular models like Apache RTR Series, Raider, Ronin, and Striker leading sales.

Royal Enfield follows in fifth place with 7,562 units imported. Models like Classic 350, Hunter, Meteor, and Himalayan remain iconic among enthusiasts in Nepal.

Other brands collectively occupy a smaller share of the market, with KTM (522 units), Suzuki (108), Jonssen (45), Zumabh (45), CF Moto (35), and others (40 units).

Market analysts note that Bajaj’s dominance is still clear, but competition from Hero, Yamaha, and TVS is steadily intensifying. Changing consumer preferences, the arrival of new models, and flexible pricing strategies could reshape the landscape in the coming months.

With demand for motorcycles consistently rising, Nepal’s two-wheeler market is becoming more vibrant, competitive, and full of opportunities. As each brand refines its strategy and introduces new models, the question remains — who will lead Nepal’s roads next?
