inance Minister Rameshwar Khanal stated that attacks on the private sector are inappropriate and urged all stakeholders to focus on its protection. Speaking at the 16th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Economic Journalists’ Association (NAFIZ), he said, “The structures and assets created by the private sector also belong to the Nepali people. They will eventually hand over control. Attacking them is not right.”
He highlighted that actions against the wrong individuals can be discouraging, though reforms can be made according to the law. “If someone has committed a crime, the government is ready to punish them. However, arbitrary commentary through streets, social media, or other channels is unacceptable,” Minister Khanal emphasized.
The minister also reminded that the GENJI movement was not solely for economic prosperity; it aimed to curb corruption and ensure transparency in service delivery.
Regarding upcoming elections, he assured that elections would be conducted on time, with the consent of all political parties and citizens, in a safe, fair, and fear-free environment. “The international community is appreciating Nepal’s democratic practices, and this perspective should remain unchanged,” he added.
Ultimately, Minister Khanal reiterated that the government is committed to protecting the private sector, ensuring transparency, and focusing on economic development while upholding democratic practices.
