Kailash Bijayananda Takes Helm of AmCham Nepal, Paving Way for Digital-Led Trade

Kailash Bijayananda, CEO of Leapfrog Technology, has been appointed as the new President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal (AmCham) during the organization’s fourth Annual General Meeting (AGM), signaling a major shift toward digital-driven leadership in the US–Nepal business corridor.

With nearly two decades of experience in software and technology, Bijayananda has guided Leapfrog Technology to expand globally, serving clients across the US, UK, Switzerland, Canada, India, and Nepal. Starting his career as a programmer, he has grown into a global executive, bringing a unique perspective on integrating Nepalese talent with international business standards. He holds a Computer Science degree from the University of Portsmouth, positioning him to strengthen AmCham’s focus on the digital economy and IT exports.

The fourth AGM also introduced a diverse board of directors representing key industries, including technology, logistics, energy, and FMCG:

US Ambassador Dean Thompson, present at the event, emphasized the importance of a transparent and predictable business environment. He highlighted the MCC Nepal Compact as a transformative opportunity for American and Nepalese companies and noted that American firms entering the Nepalese market demonstrate the country’s investment potential, provided the government ensures policy stability and investor-friendly regulations.

Bijayananda’s appointment comes at a crucial time as Nepal aims to boost Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Key objectives outlined at the AGM include digital integration to modernize trade, recognizing the resilience of the Nepalese business community, and advocating policies that strengthen the IT sector and maintain Nepalese companies’ global competitiveness.

With a technology visionary like Bijayananda leading AmCham Nepal, the chamber is set to play a pivotal role in fostering innovation, attracting investments, and shaping Nepal’s digital and economic future.
