Washington: The U.S. military’s conflict with Iran has cost the Pentagon about $38 billion through August 1, 2026, according to a new analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
The estimate covers weapons and equipment replacement, combat losses, additional military flights, operations and fuel costs. If the conflict continues, the Pentagon could spend another $2 billion to $3 billion every month, depending on the intensity of fighting.
The CBO also warned that disruptions to oil and natural-gas shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea could add further pressure to energy prices and inflation.
