Prime Bank Refreshes Rates, Remittance Deposits Reach 5%

Kathmandu. Prime Bank Limited has announced its revised interest rate structure effective from September 17, 2026 (Ashwin 1, 2083).

The new structure covers local currency savings, recurring deposits, fixed deposits, call deposits, foreign currency deposits, floating lending rates, fixed-rate loans and applicable regulatory conditions.

Local Currency Savings Deposits

Prime Baideshik Remit Bachat Khata, Prime Premium Remit Bachat Khata and Prime Remit Savings offer 4.02% per annum, with no minimum balance requirement.

Prime Jeevan Surakshya Bachat Khata requires a minimum balance of NPR 5,000 and offers 3.02% per annum. Prime Supreme Corporate Staff Savings Account requires NPR 25,000 and provides 3.02%.

Prime Supreme Nari Bachat Khata requires a minimum balance of NPR 5,000 and offers 3.02%. Prime Supreme Karmachari Bachat Khata requires NPR 2,500 and provides 3.02%, while Prime Supreme Jestha Nagarik Bachat Khata requires NPR 5,000 and also provides 3.02% per annum.

Prime Supreme Bachat Khata requires a minimum balance of NPR 5,000 and earns 2.76% per annum. Prime Premium Jestha Nagarik Bachat Khata requires NPR 1,000 and offers 2.75%.

Prime Premium Nari Bachat Khata requires NPR 1,000 and provides 2.76%, while Prime Premium Karmachari Bachat Khata requires NPR 100 and offers 2.76%.

Prime Sahaj Bachat Khata, Prime Sunaulo Bachat Khata and Prime Sarba Sulabh Bachat Khata each require a minimum balance of NPR 100 and offer 2.76% per annum.

Prime Deposit Plus requires a minimum balance of NPR 1,000 and offers 2.76%. All other local currency savings accounts, except those specifically mentioned above, also offer 2.76% per annum.

Local Currency Recurring Deposits

Under Prime Recurring Deposit Account, a one-year tenure with a minimum monthly deposit of NPR 1,000 earns 3.00% per annum. Recurring deposits with tenures of 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 years earn 4.00% per annum.

For Prime Recurring Remit Deposit Account, the one-year tenure requires a minimum monthly deposit of NPR 1,000 and offers 4.00% per annum.

Tenures of 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 years under the remittance recurring deposit offer 5.00% per annum.

Local Currency Fixed and Call Deposits

For individual local currency fixed deposits with a tenure of 3 months to less than 6 months, the interest rate is 2.80% per annum, while individual remittance deposits offer 3.80%. Institutional deposits are not available for this tenure.

For 6 months to less than 1 year, individual deposits earn 2.90%, individual remittance deposits earn 3.90%, and institutional deposits earn 2.75%. For 1 year to less than 2 years, individual deposits earn 3.00%, individual remittance deposits earn 4.00%, and institutional deposits earn 2.75%.

For 2 years and above, individual deposits earn 4.00%, individual remittance deposits earn 5.00%, and institutional deposits earn 2.75% per annum. The interest rate on local currency call deposits is available at up to 1.37% per annum.

Foreign Currency Deposits

For USD deposits, savings accounts offer 1.75%, fixed deposits offer 3.60%, and call deposits offer up to 1.00% per annum. For EURO deposits, savings accounts offer 0.50%, fixed deposits offer 1.50%, and call deposits offer up to 0.25%.

For GBP deposits, savings accounts offer 0.50%, fixed deposits offer 1.50%, and call deposits offer up to 0.25%. For JPY deposits, savings accounts offer 0.50%, fixed deposits offer 1.50%, and call deposits offer up to 0.25% per annum.

Rates for other foreign currency deposits are available upon request. Foreign currency remittance deposits receive a minimum additional interest of 1 percentage point.

Foreign currency fixed deposits have a minimum tenure of 3 months for individuals and 6 months for institutions.

Floating Lending Rates

Prime Bank has stated that floating lending rates are calculated by adding a risk premium to the bank’s Base Rate. For Deprived Sector Lending for institutions and retail customers, the interest rate is Base Rate + up to 5.00% per annum.

The same structure applies to Working Capital Loan, Cash Credit, Demand Loan, Term Loan, Trust Receipt Loan, Export Credit, SME Loan, Hire Purchase Loan for Commercial Vehicles and Hire Purchase Loan for Private Vehicles, with rates of Base Rate + up to 5.00%.

Loans against fixed deposits maintained with Prime Bank are priced at Coupon Rate + up to 2.00%. Mortgage Overdraft Loan, Mortgage Term Loan, Loan against Share, Professional Loan, Bridge Gap Loan and Education Loan carry rates of Base Rate + up to 5.00% per annum.

Loans against government bonds carry a rate of Base Rate + up to 2.00%.

Similarly, Prime Home Loan, Prime Home Loan Repair, Prime Agriculture Loan, Prime Laghu Udhyam Loan, Prime Self Employment Loan, Prime Consumption Loan, Prime Personal Loan, Equipment Loan, Loan against Gold and Silver, and Prime Bewashaya Jeevan Rakshya Karja carry rates of Base Rate + up to 5.00% per annum.

For Consortium Loans, the applicable interest rate will be determined according to the consortium’s decision.

Fixed Lending Rates

Prime Bank has fixed the interest rates for several loan products within the range of 9.00% to 11.00% per annum. Prime Home Loans under fixed-rate schemes carry rates ranging from 9.00% to 11.00%.

Prime Hire Purchase Loans under fixed-rate schemes also carry 9.00% to 11.00%. Mortgage Loans under fixed-rate schemes carry 9.00% to 11.00%.

Other personal-nature loans under fixed-rate schemes also carry 9.00% to 11.00% per annum.

Key Loan and Regulatory Conditions

Interest rates on foreign currency loans will be determined on a deal-to-deal basis, depending on market movements and subject to applicable Nepal Rastra Bank guidelines.

Interest rates on loan products directed by Nepal Rastra Bank for specific sectors will strictly follow the central bank’s applicable guidelines.

The difference in interest rates between loans of a similar nature will be managed in accordance with Nepal Rastra Bank Directive No. 15/082.
