Nepal, Pakistan Seek Stronger Cooperation in Youth Entrepreneurship, Technology and Innovation

Kathmandu: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal Mohammad Amir Khan and Shobha Gyawali, Chairperson of Startup Summit Nepal–2026, held discussions on strengthening Nepal–Pakistan relations through youth entrepreneurship, technology, skills development and innovation.

During the meeting at the Pakistani Embassy in Maharajgunj, Ambassador Khan expressed his commitment to providing necessary support and cooperation to Startup Summit Nepal–2026. He emphasized the need to create an environment where the potential, creativity and skills of Nepali youth can be utilized within the country.

Ambassador Khan said Pakistan could cooperate in initiatives aimed at encouraging Nepali youth to create opportunities at home. He also expressed readiness to facilitate knowledge, skills, experience and entrepreneurial exchanges between young people from Nepal and Pakistan.

The ambassador also expressed concern over the recent climate-related disasters and floods in Nepal, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in disaster management, climate change adaptation and risk reduction.

He highlighted the potential for collaboration in information technology, digital innovation, climate-friendly technologies and entrepreneurship, saying knowledge and technology exchange between the two countries could help create new employment and business opportunities.

Ambassador Khan praised the determination, capabilities and creativity of Nepali youth and stressed the importance of creating opportunities for them to use their knowledge and skills in national development.

During the meeting, Startup Summit Nepal–2026 Chairperson Shobha Gyawali briefed the ambassador on the summit’s objectives and upcoming plans. She said the initiative is focused on encouraging educated, skilled and talented young people to explore opportunities within Nepal.

Gyawali said the summit is moving forward with the message “Let’s Use Our Knowledge and Skills in Our Own Country”, aiming to connect young people with entrepreneurship, technology, investment, markets and self-reliance.

She emphasized that startups should not be viewed only as businesses, but also as a platform to transform the knowledge, skills and creativity of young people into opportunities for national development.

Gyawali further said Nepal and Pakistan could expand cooperation in youth entrepreneurship, information technology, education, skills development, climate change and professional experience exchange by connecting the long-standing friendship between the two countries with the new generation.

Startup Summit Nepal–2026 is also working to promote entrepreneurship and startup initiatives across all seven provinces, with the broader goal of helping young people transform their knowledge, skills and creativity into opportunities within Nepal.

The meeting concluded with a positive understanding on expanding Nepal–Pakistan cooperation in youth, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, while exploring ways to create greater opportunities for young people and contribute to economic and social development.
