Kathmandu: Nepal’s leading digital payment service provider, eSewa, has launched a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) facility on its platform, allowing customers to purchase Gyaro electric scooters through a digital installment-based financing scheme.
The service was introduced following a tripartite agreement signed at eSewa’s head office on Ashwin 8. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by outgoing eSewa Chief Executive Officer Jagdish Khadka, Reliance Finance Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ramhari Acharya, and Parimita Investment Representative Manan Tuladhar.
Under the partnership, eSewa will provide the digital infrastructure for processing customer applications and managing the installment payment system. Reliance Finance Limited will serve as the financing partner, providing credit facilities to eligible customers, while Parimita Investment Private Limited will act as the official distributor of Gyaro electric scooters.
Through this scheme, customers can obtain digital loans of up to NPR 200,000 directly through the eSewa mobile application. The loans will carry an annual interest rate of 9.99 percent, with a maximum repayment period of 36 months through monthly installments.
The entire loan application, documentation, and approval process will be conducted digitally through the eSewa app. This eliminates the need for customers to visit financial institutions for manual paperwork, making the financing process more accessible and convenient.
The partnership brings together digital payment services, financial institutions, and electric scooter distribution under a single financing arrangement. The initiative aims to provide customers with a digital installment-based payment option for purchasing Gyaro electric scooters while expanding access to digital credit facilities.
With this launch, eSewa is expanding its services beyond digital payments by integrating financing options into its mobile application, enabling eligible customers to purchase electric scooters through a structured repayment plan.
