Kathmandu. Swabalamban Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited has provided essential relief supplies to residents affected by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Ward No. 3 of Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot.
The relief distribution was carried out on Bhadra 17, 2083, following the catastrophic flood that occurred in the Bhotekoshi River on Bhadra 10, 2083. The assistance was provided to 141 individuals living in isolated riverside areas across the river who had been cut off from rescue and relief efforts due to severe damage to roads and access routes.
The disaster has also deeply affected the institution, as two employees attached to the Betrawati Branch Office remain missing following the flood. Search and rescue operations are continuing, but their whereabouts remain unknown.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Swabalamban Laghubitta proceeded with the relief distribution under its Corporate Social Responsibility program, focusing on providing essential supplies to people affected by the disaster.
The relief distribution was conducted in the presence of Indra Prasad Adhikari, Acting Ward Chairperson of Bidur Municipality Ward No. 3. Based on the severity of the impact, beneficiaries were divided into two categories: severely affected and affected.
For each severely affected family or individual, the institution provided 25 kilograms of rice, 2 kilograms of lentils, 2 kilograms of beaten rice, 1 liter of cooking oil, 1 kilogram of salt, and 1 bar of soap.
Similarly, each affected family or individual received 12.5 kilograms of rice, 1 kilogram of lentils, 1 kilogram of beaten rice, 0.5 liter of cooking oil, 1 kilogram of salt, and 0.5 bar of soap.
In total, the institution distributed 100 sacks of rice, 200 kilograms of lentils, 100 liters of cooking oil, 200 kilograms of beaten rice, 150 kilograms of salt, and 100 bars of soap to the flood-affected community.
The relief distribution team included Suman Shrestha, Manager at the Central Office; Laxman Basnet, Manager at the Thimi Area Office; Pramod Kumar Sigdel, Manager at the Bidur Branch Office; and Pushparaj Adhikari, Assistant at the Bidur Branch Office.
Through the relief initiative, Swabalamban Laghubitta has demonstrated its commitment to supporting communities affected by natural disasters and continuing its social responsibility initiatives during times of crisis.
