Kathmandu. Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Limited has updated its interest rate structure effective from September 17, 2026, corresponding to 1st Ashwin 2083. The revised structure covers savings accounts, recurring deposits, individual and institutional fixed deposits, floating-rate loans, fixed-rate loans and other banking conditions.
According to the bank, savings accounts offer interest rates of up to 3.75 percent per annum, while individual fixed deposits offer up to 4.30 percent per annum.
Savings Accounts
Mahalaxmi Remittance Bachat offers 3.75 percent per annum with a minimum balance requirement of NPR 100. Interest is posted quarterly. Mahalaxmi Samriddhi Bachat requires a minimum balance of NPR 100 and offers 2.75 percent per annum, with quarterly interest payment.
Staff Salary Account also provides 2.75 percent per annum on a quarterly basis. Mahalaxmi Dollar Account, covering saving and fixed deposits, offers 2.75 percent per annum, with quarterly interest payment. Mahalaxmi PMS Khata provides 2.75 percent per annum, with interest posted monthly, while Mahalaxmi Karmachari Bachat Khata offers 2.75 percent per annum with quarterly payment.
Mahalaxmi Investor’s Share Saving Account, also known as All in One, offers 2.75 percent per annum, with quarterly interest payment. Mahalaxmi Grihalaxmi Bachat requires a minimum balance of NPR 100 and offers 2.75 percent per annum. Mahalaxmi Student Saving Account also requires a minimum balance of NPR 100 and offers 2.75 percent per annum.
Mahalaxmi Jestha Nagarik Bachat requires NPR 100 as the minimum balance and offers 2.75 percent per annum. Mahalaxmi Baal Bachat Khata requires a minimum balance of NPR 100 and provides 2.75 percent per annum. Mahalaxmi Bhukampa Pidit Account, Mahalaxmi Samajik Surakshya Account and Mahalaxmi Online Saving each offer 2.75 percent per annum, with quarterly interest payment.
Margin Locker Account requires a minimum balance of NPR 1,000 and offers 2.75 percent per annum on a quarterly basis. Mahalaxmi Normal Saving Account also provides 2.75 percent per annum, with quarterly interest payment.
Recurring Deposits
Mahalaxmi Kramik Bachat Khata offers an annual interest rate of 2.80 percent, with interest posted quarterly. Mahalaxmi Baal Bachat Recurring Deposit Account also offers 2.80 percent per annum, with quarterly interest payment.
Individual Fixed Deposits
For individual fixed deposits with a tenure of one year to below two years, deposits made in person earn 2.80 percent per annum, while deposits made through the Mahalaxmi Smart Sathi mobile application earn 2.90 percent.
For deposits of two years to below three years, the in-person rate is 3.20 percent, while the mobile application rate is 3.30 percent per annum.
For deposits of three years to below five years, in-person deposits offer 3.70 percent, while deposits through the mobile application earn 3.80 percent per annum.
For fixed deposits of five years and above, in-person deposits offer 4.30 percent per annum. The mobile application option is not available for this tenure.
The bank has stated that the maturity period of a fixed deposit should not exceed 10 years, while the minimum fixed deposit amount should be NPR 10,000.
Institutional Fixed Deposits
Institutional fixed deposits of one year to below two years offer 2.75 percent per annum. Deposits of two years to below three years offer 2.90 percent. Deposits of three years to below five years offer 3.20 percent.
Deposits of five years and above offer 4.25 percent per annum. Interest on institutional fixed deposits will be posted quarterly. The interest rate for Akshay Kosh deposits is negotiable, with quarterly interest payment.
Floating Interest Rates on Loans
Business overdraft, industrial overdraft, working capital and short-term loans carry interest at the base rate plus up to 3.75 percent. Business term loans, industrial term loans, Mahalaxmi Udhyamshil Karja and other business loans also carry the base rate plus up to 3.75 percent.
Auto loans, hire-purchase loans, education loans and home loans are priced at the base rate plus up to 3.75 percent. Gold and silver loans and loans against shares also carry the base rate plus up to 3.75 percent.
Institutional deprived-sector loans are negotiable, while individual deprived-sector loans carry the base rate plus up to 3.75 percent. Agriculture loans, including term and overdraft facilities, personal loans including term and overdraft facilities, home equity loans and other loans carry the base rate plus up to 3.75 percent.
Loans against the bank’s own fixed deposits are priced at the coupon rate plus 2 percent. Loans against government or Nepal Rastra Bank securities also carry the coupon rate plus 2 percent.
Consortium loan rates will be determined according to the consortium’s decision.
Fixed Interest Rates on Loans
Green home loans carry fixed interest rates ranging from 6.49 percent to 9.99 percent per annum. Green auto loans also carry fixed rates ranging from 6.49 percent to 9.99 percent. Other term loans, including business loans, carry fixed interest rates ranging from 5.99 percent to 9.99 percent.
The fixed interest rate for SME revolving loans is 5.99 percent.
Base Rate and Other Conditions
The bank’s average base rate stands at 5.65 percent, while the base rate for Shrawan 2083 stands at 5.64 percent. The interest rate spread stands at 4.15 percent. Penal interest will be charged in accordance with Nepal Rastra Bank’s circulars.
Customers taking personal term loans with a tenure of more than one year will have the option to choose between fixed and floating interest rates. Interest rates on call deposits will be determined according to Nepal Rastra Bank guidelines.
The interest rate on remittance fixed-term deposits will also be determined according to Nepal Rastra Bank guidelines. The revised interest rate structure of Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank has come into effect from September 17, 2026, or 1st Ashwin 2083.
