Kathmandu. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has praised Pakistan for its resilience, solidarity and commitment to building a better future, describing the country as a source of unity and solutions.
Reflecting on his more than two decades of engagement with Pakistan in different roles, Guterres said he had consistently witnessed the country’s spirit of solidarity and its efforts to find solutions to challenges.
“Over two decades in different roles, I have seen Pakistan as a source of solidarity and solutions,” Guterres said.
He said what had stood out most to him was the resilience of the Pakistani people and their determination to build a better future despite difficult circumstances.
Guterres delivered a clear message of solidarity, saying that the United Nations stands firmly with the people of Pakistan.
“My message is simple: The UN stands with the people of Pakistan,” he said.
The UN chief also expressed his appreciation to the Pakistani people for their contribution to the wider international community.
“And I thank the Pakistani people for standing up for the world,” Guterres added.
His remarks highlight the United Nations’ continued recognition of Pakistan’s resilience and its role in supporting collective efforts to address global challenges. The statement also reflects the importance of solidarity and international cooperation in building a more peaceful and sustainable future.
