Lokmanya Golchha Honored by Poland

Renowned Nepali industrialist Lokmanya Golchha has been awarded the prestigious Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, recognizing his outstanding contribution to strengthening relations between Nepal and Poland. Golchha currently serves as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Nepal.

The decoration was formally presented on Wednesday at a special ceremony held in Kathmandu by Dr. Piotr Świtalski, Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Poland to Nepal. Addressing the program, Dr. Świtalski said the award was conferred in appreciation of Golchha’s exceptional role in promoting bilateral cooperation across diplomatic, economic, and commercial spheres.

Dr. Świtalski also praised Golchha’s commitment and courage during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting his proactive support during a challenging period. Referring to Golchha as a “true friend of Poland,” the Polish envoy highlighted the positive contribution made by Golchha and the businesses under his leadership to Nepal’s economic development and prosperity.

Accepting the honor, Golchha said he viewed the award not merely as a personal achievement but as a meaningful symbol of the long-standing friendship, goodwill, and cooperation between Nepal and Poland. He added that the recognition has further motivated him to work toward stronger collaboration and deeper mutual understanding between the two countries.

Emphasizing his belief that sustainable progress is built on trust, cooperation, and mutual respect, Golchha stated that his interactions with Polish friends and partners have reinforced this conviction. He also shared that he has personally witnessed how geographically distant nations can successfully collaborate when they are connected by shared values, integrity, and a genuine willingness to learn from one another.

The Officer’s Cross awarded to Golchha is the fourth rank among the five classes of civilian honors conferred by the President of the Republic of Poland. Established in 1974, the Order of Merit of Poland is traditionally bestowed upon foreign nationals or Polish citizens living abroad in recognition of their exceptional contributions. The honor is awarded to individuals who have made significant efforts in advancing international cooperation or fostering friendly relations between Poland and other countries.

Golchha’s recognition is widely seen as a reflection of the growing warmth and depth of Nepal–Poland relations, as well as his continued role in promoting meaningful bilateral engagement.
