Kumari Bank Sets New Rates, Savings Up to 4.31%

Kathmandu. Kumari Bank Limited has published its updated interest rate structure effective from 01 Ashwin 2083, corresponding to 17 September 2026. The new structure covers local currency savings deposits, individual and institutional fixed deposits, foreign currency deposits, floating-rate loans, fixed-rate loans and other banking conditions.

According to the bank, savings deposit rates in local currency range from 0.81 percent to 4.31 percent per annum, while individual fixed deposits offer up to 3.73 percent per annum through the Kumari Smart Mobile App.

Local Currency Savings Deposits

The Harek Herai Remit Bachat Khata offers an annual interest rate of 4.31 percent. Kumari Remit IPO Saving Account offers 2.91 percent, while Kumari Remit Premium Saving Account provides 3.91 percent per annum. Chhori Bachat Khata and Green Savings Deposit Account offer 2.91 percent per annum. Kumari Silver Saving Khata provides 3.31 percent.

The local currency Call Account offers up to 0.81 percent per annum, while other savings products provide 2.75 percent.

Individual Fixed Deposits

For individual fixed deposits with a tenure of three months to below two years, deposits made in person offer 2.75 percent per annum, while deposits made through the Kumari Smart Mobile App offer 2.80 percent.

For fixed deposits of two years and above, the rate is 3.43 percent for in-person deposits and 3.73 percent through the mobile application. Under Fixed Deposit Plus and Recurring Deposit products with a tenure of one to five years, in-person deposits earn 2.75 percent, while mobile-app deposits earn 2.80 percent per annum.

Institutional Fixed Deposits

Institutional fixed deposits with a tenure of six months to below five years offer 2.75 percent per annum. Deposits with a tenure of five years and above provide 3.01 percent per annum.

Foreign Currency Deposits

For EUR deposits, the Call Deposit rate is 0.250 percent, Saving Deposit rate is 1.50 percent and Fixed Deposit of up to one year offers 2.00 percent per annum.

For GBP, Call Deposit offers 1.000 percent, Saving Deposit 2.00 percent and Fixed Deposit of up to one year 2.50 percent. For AUD, Call Deposit offers 1.250 percent, Saving Deposit 2.50 percent and Fixed Deposit of up to one year 3.00 percent.

For CAD, Call Deposit offers 1.000 percent, Saving Deposit 2.00 percent and Fixed Deposit of up to one year 2.50 percent. For JPY, Call Deposit offers 0.125 percent, Saving Deposit 0.75 percent and Fixed Deposit of up to one year 0.50 percent.

For CNY, Call Deposit offers 1.000 percent, Saving Deposit 2.00 percent and Fixed Deposit of up to one year 3.00 percent.

USD Deposits

For USD deposits, the Call Deposit rate is 1.105 percent per annum, while the Saving Deposit rate is 2.210 percent. For six-month USD fixed deposits, deposits of up to 3 million receive 3.26 percent, deposits above 3 million and below 5 million receive 3.71 percent, and deposits above 5 million receive 3.81 percent.

For USD fixed deposits with a tenure of more than six months, deposits of up to 3 million receive 3.76 percent, deposits above 3 million and below 5 million receive 4.27 percent, and deposits above 5 million receive 4.31 percent.

Other foreign currency and non-resident Nepali foreign currency fixed deposits are available on request.

Floating Interest Rates on Loans

Corporate and agriculture loans carry a premium of up to 2.00 percent over the base rate. MSME and SME loans classified as productive under Nepal Rastra Bank provisions also carry a premium of up to 2.00 percent.

Other MSME and SME loans under FWCL carry a premium ranging from 1.00 to 3.00 percent, while PWCL and FTL loans carry 1.50 to 3.50 percent. Education loans carry 2.50 to 4.00 percent, deprived-sector loans up to 2.00 percent and home loans 1.00 to 3.00 percent over the base rate.

Personal term loans carry 1.50 to 3.50 percent, while personal overdraft loans carry 2.00 to 4.00 percent. Private auto loans carry 1.00 to 3.00 percent. Commercial hire-purchase loans carry 2.00 to 4.00 percent.

Real estate and margin lending loans also carry premiums ranging from 2.00 to 4.00 percent.Corporate-other loans carry 0.50 to 2.50 percent.Loans against first-class bank guarantees carry a premium of up to 2.00 percent.

For loans against fixed deposits and government securities, the applicable rate will be either the coupon rate or RABR plus 1 percent, whichever is higher. Other loans and professional loans carry a premium ranging from 3.00 to 4.00 percent.

Foreign currency-denominated loans and foreign currency TR loans are available on request.

Fixed Interest Rates on Loans

For home loans with a tenure of up to seven years, the fixed interest rate is 6.29 percent per annum. Auto loans with a tenure of up to five years carry a fixed rate of 6.49 percent. Other individual mortgage term loans with a tenure of up to seven years carry a fixed rate of 6.99 percent.

SME and MSME loans with a tenure of up to seven years carry a fixed rate of 6.49 percent. The fixed interest rate for margin lending is also 6.49 percent per annum.

Base Rate and Other Conditions

The bank’s base rate for Shrawan 2083 stands at 4.85 percent, while its interest rate spread stands at 3.17 percent. The minimum balance, tenure and maturity periods for different savings and term deposits will be governed by the bank’s published rules. Interest rates on call deposits will be adjusted according to market conditions.

Subsidized-rate loans will be provided in accordance with Nepal Rastra Bank directives. Customers seeking the additional 1 percent interest rate on Remittance Savings Accounts must provide proof of the source of remittance. Interest earned on recurring fixed deposit accounts will be credited to the linked account.

Inter-bank account transfers are permitted in multiples of NPR 100,000. For foreign currency term deposits, the minimum tenure is three months or more for individual customers and six months or more for institutional customers.
