Kathmandu. Nepal SBI Bank Limited has revised its interest rate structure for deposits and loans, effective from September 17, 2026 (Ashwin 1, 2083).
The revised structure covers fixed, recurring and Dhanvriddhi deposits, savings accounts, call deposits, foreign currency deposits, fixed-rate loans, floating-rate loans, commercial and business loans, as well as various special lending products.
Deposit Rates
Under Fixed, Recurring and Dhanvriddhi deposits for individuals, deposits with a tenure of 3 months to less than 6 months earn 2.82% per annum.
Deposits of 6 months to less than 1 year earn 3.00%, while deposits of 1 year to less than 2 years earn 3.20%. Similarly, deposits of 2 years to less than 3 years earn 3.90%, and deposits of 3 years and above earn 4.10% per annum.
For institutional, foreign and diplomatic institutions, deposits of 6 months to less than 1 year, 1 year to less than 2 years, and 2 years to less than 3 years earn 2.75% per annum each. Deposits of 3 years and above earn 2.25% per annum.
The bank has fixed the rate on NPR Call Deposits at up to 0.75%.
Foreign Currency Deposits
Under foreign currency savings deposits, USD deposits earn 3.10% per annum, while EUR and GBP deposits earn 0.50% per annum each.
For foreign currency fixed deposits, with a minimum tenure of 3 months for individuals and 6 months for institutions, USD deposits earn up to 3.85%, while EUR and GBP deposits earn up to 1.00% per annum each.
For foreign currency call deposits, USD earns 1.50%, EUR earns 0.25%, and GBP earns 0.37% per annum.
Local Currency Savings
In local currency savings deposits, Samriddha Nagarrik Bachat Khata and Saral Bachat Khata offer 2.75% per annum. Savings Swarnim Bachat Khata offers 2.76%, while Savings PF and SB Corporate Salary Package (CSP) offer 2.77% per annum.
Savings Rakshak Bachat Khata provides 2.78%, while NSBL Bal Bachat Khata and Savings Akshay Kosh provide 2.79% per annum. Similarly, S2 Karmachari Bachat Khata, Chhori Bachat Khata and all other local currency savings accounts offer 2.80% per annum.
Fixed-Rate Loans
For Education Loan and Education Loan Plus, the fixed interest rate is 9.99% for loans up to 5 years, 10.49% for more than 5 years to 10 years, and 10.99% for more than 10 years.
For Home Loan, the fixed rate is 8.99% for up to 5 years, 9.49% for more than 5 years to 10 years, and 10.49% for more than 10 years.
For Auto Loan and Hire Purchase Loan for personal or official purposes, the fixed rate is 8.99% for up to 5 years and 9.49% for more than 5 years to 10 years.
For commercial Auto Loan and Hire Purchase Loan, the fixed rate is 9.99% for up to 5 years and 10.99% for more than 5 years to 10 years.
Personal Mortgage, Term Loan, Other Personal Term Loan, Bhu Poo Loan, Bhu Poo Plus Loan, Loan to Migrant Workers and Deprived Sector Lending for individuals carry a fixed rate of 9.99% for up to 5 years, 10.99% for more than 5 years to 10 years, and 11.99% for more than 10 years.
For Term Loan and Project Finance, the fixed rate is 7.75% for up to 3 years, 8.00% for more than 3 years to 5 years, and 9.50% for more than 5 years to 10 years as well as above 10 years.
Floating-Rate Loans
For Education Loan and Education Loan Plus, the floating rate ranges from Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00%.
Home Loan carries a floating rate of Base Rate + 0.50% to 2.50%.
For Auto Loan and Hire Purchase Loan, the rates vary according to vehicle category:
- Personal EV: Base Rate + 0.25% to 2.25%
- Personal IC: Base Rate + 0.50% to 2.50%
- Official EV: Base Rate + 0.25% to 2.25%
- Official IC: Base Rate + 0.50% to 2.50%
- Commercial EV: Base Rate + 1.00% to 3.00%
- Commercial IC: Base Rate + 1.00% to 3.00%
Personal Mortgage, Term Loan and Other Personal Term Loan carry Base Rate + 0.50% to 2.50%. Bhu Poo Loan, Bhu Poo Plus Loan and Loan to Migrant Workers carry Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00%.
Deprived Sector Lending for individuals also carries Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00%.
For Term Loan and Project Finance, the floating rate varies by customer category:
- Corporate or Mid-Corporate: Base Rate + up to 2.00%
- Prime: Base Rate + 1.00% to 3.00%
- Others: Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00%
Commercial and Business Loans
For Working Capital/Cash Credit, Trust Receipt, Short-Term Demand Loan, Term Loan/Project Finance and Working Capital/Cash Credit Multinational, the floating rates are:
- Corporate and Mid-Corporate Customers: Base Rate + up to 2.00%
- Prime Customers: Base Rate + 1.00% to 3.00%
- Other Customers: Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00%
Pre-shipment and Post-shipment loans under FCY loans are priced as per agreement, subject to Nepal Rastra Bank guidelines.
Loan Against FDR is priced at FD Rate + up to 2.00% or Base Rate, whichever is higher.
Deprived Sector Lending for MFI is Base Rate + up to 2.00%, while Deprived Sector Lending for NBFCs is Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00% for qualifying institutions.
Deprived Sector Lending for retail customers is Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00%. Personal Loan/Overdraft carries Base Rate + 1.00% to 3.00%.
For SME Loan and NSBL Saral Karja for MSMEs, Prime Customers receive Base Rate + up to 2.00%, while Other Customers receive Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00%.
NSBL Krishak Sathi Karja is priced at Base Rate + up to 2.00%. Loan Against Share/Margin Lending carries Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00%.
Loan Against Bonds, including government and other bonds, is priced at Base Rate – up to 2.00% or applicable Base Rate, whichever is higher.
Gold Loan carries Base Rate + 2.00% to 4.00%. FCY Loans for payment of Sight LC are based on agreement or MRR plus premium.
Base Rate and Spread
The bank’s three-month average Base Rate is 5.14%. The Base Rate for Shrawan 2083 is 5.05%, while the interest spread rate for Shrawan 2083 is 3.27%.
Key Conditions
The interest rate applicable to forced loans may vary depending on the risk premium from the published rate. For consortium financing, the applicable interest rate is determined through consortium meetings.
Interest concessions are available for specified sectors under normal Deprived Sector Loans in accordance with Nepal Rastra Bank directives.
Loans provided under the Work Procedure on Interest Subsidy for Concessional Loan, 2082 carry an interest rate of Base Rate + maximum 1.50%.
Interest rates applicable to NPA accounts may vary. A 2% per annum penal interest is applicable to overdue amounts. A risk premium of up to the highest published premium rate may be charged in cases requiring additional provisioning.
Bills under import LC (BLC) and other forced loans attract the highest published interest rate. For remittance deposits, an additional 1 percentage point above the card rate applies in accordance with Nepal Rastra Bank guidelines.
Institutional fixed deposits do not provide premature withdrawal facilities before completion of 6 months. Fixed deposits under the Dhanvriddhi Scheme are accepted only for 6 months and above.
Festive Campaign Vehicle Loan
Under the bank’s Festive Campaign running from August 12, 2026 to December 15, 2026, fixed interest rates for personal or official purpose vehicle loans booked or sanctioned during the campaign are set at 6.99% for a 5-year repayment period and 7.99% for a 7-year repayment period.
The bank has stated that interest rates applicable to other deposit and loan schemes remain unchanged.
