Dhakal Emphasizes Economic Growth in Partnership with Private Sector

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), emphasized the need for the government and private sector to move forward together. Speaking at the 16th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Economic Journalists’ Association (NAFIZ), Dhakal stated, “Until we can move forward together with the private sector, Nepal’s economy cannot advance. This has already been proven.”

He highlighted the need to change the perspective towards the private sector and pointed out that Nepal lags behind in key economic agendas. According to him, the absence of a collective approach has hindered achieving tangible results.

Dhakal mentioned that the private sector can achieve a lot by mobilizing internal capital and is breaking the misconception that “nothing can be done in Nepal.” He added that post-GENJI movement, several governance-related demands from the private sector have been addressed, which has encouraged them to invest and act.

He also noted the significant role of CEOs in decision-making. If a CEO desires, a decision can be passed with the chairman’s agreement, but if not, it cannot be approved. Dhakal further informed that FNCCI continues to promote investment in Nepal through various domestic and international initiatives.
