Chandra Prasad Dhakal Urges Political Parties to Prioritize Economic Agendas

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has emphasized that political parties must focus on establishing their economic agendas. He shared this view at the event “Economic Agenda in Party Manifestos”, organized by the Nepal Economic Journalists Association on Sunday in Kathmandu.

According to Dhakal, political parties currently tend to criticize each other to gain prominence, rather than prioritize their own policy agendas. He stated,

“Party leaders often portray other parties negatively. No one is focused on establishing their own agenda.”

Dhakal also highlighted the negative perception of the private sector by political parties as a challenge. He added,

“The contribution of the private sector to the state is rarely acknowledged by political leaders. Why aren’t issues like job creation and taxes paid discussed?”

He noted a lack of coordination among ministries and a tendency to make decisions for popularity rather than long-term state interest. Dhakal stressed that without promotion and protection of the private sector, sustaining a vibrant economy would be difficult.
